Transcription is the process by which DNA is copied (transcribed) to mRNA, which carries the information needed for protein synthesis. Transcriptiontakes place in two broad steps. First, pre-messenger RNA is formed, with the involvement of RNA polymerase enzymes.

Process of transcription in protein synthesis:
- Transcription is the process where proteins are prepared by ribosomes based on information of DNA which is carried by mRNA.
- This mRNA is prepared by the process called transcription, by preparing RNA with nitrogen bases that are just complementary to bases of DNA.
- At first, DNA is unwinded by helicase enzyme which unwinds as well as separates the two strands of DNA.
- DNA based RNA polymerase comes to produce the RNA based on template strand.
- Then, after production of the crude mRNA, some cappings, tailings, and slicing are done to prepare final mRNA.
