The main reasons for the faliure of the first independence struggle of 1857 were :
1. The struggle only took place in the northern part of India and only half of India took part in it .
2. Many Kings , Nizams , Begums and other rulers were in the favour of the British.
3. Britishers have modern weapons as compared to the Indian protesters.
4. British's governors played an important role in depressing the acts by introducing new laws against the protest.

revolt failed to embrace whole india
only 1/10th of indian population & 1/4th of indian area came under its impact
Different sections of society like money lenders , educated men & merchants were against the revolt
superiority of british resources viz. rifles communication transport
lack of proper plan & strategy to move ahead with the environment..
