Religious groups played an important role in developing anti colonial feelings in Vietnam as Christianity was introduced in Vietnam by the French people, which was seen as religious exploitation, and created a disturbance in the beliefs and values of the Vietnamese people. Moreover, the french encouraged religious conversions. As a result, Vietnamese united as a unit and this led to a revolt, in which the Christians were killed.One such movement was the Hoa Hao movement.
