- In general, India is a country that do not use the term federalism like the United States in its political system.
- Union (Central) Government and State Government are combined together in Indian politics to run the nation.
- Railways, Defense, Atomic energy, airways, port like divisions are taken care by the Central Government only.
- Police, Prison, Public Health, Land like subjects are taken by the State Government for particular state.
- Indian Constitution contains a list of subjects that should be taken care or looked after by the Central Government only, the State Government only or by both.
- In terms of Legislative power, Supreme Court is the final authority to maintain the law for whole nation.
