The poet asks a question at the beginning of every stanza. This is intentionally done to create curiosity among the readers.

1.A man who plants trees,plants a friend of sun and sky as the trees will grow up and appear to reach the sky. It is a friend of sun because plants make their food with the help of sunlight by the process of photosynthesis.It is a friend of sky because it takes in carbon dioxide and give out life saving oxygen.Thus,purifies the air.

2.It plants a flag of breezes free. Just like a flag flutters freely in the breeze, the leaves of the trees also flutter and provide soothing cool breeze to us.
