When Mahatma Gandhi send a letter to viceroy Irwin stating the abolishment of salt tax, it was negotiated by Irwin

Mahatma Gandhi started his famous salt March on 11 March

He was accompanied by 78 of his trusted followers

The volunteers walked 24 days, about 10 miles a day

On 6 March he reached Dandi and ceremonially violated the law, manufacturing salt by boiling sea water
