Using PCR, a single copy (or more) of a DNA sequence is exponentially amplified to generate thousands to millions of more copies of that particular DNA segment. ... In the first step of PCR, the two strands of the DNA double helix are physically separated at a high temperature in a process called DNA melting.

Dikusneha: Actually in our school the good students are categorised in a separate section call foundation batch there we are given higher studies of 11th and 12th course. So it was quite easy for me ☺️

What is DNA Fingerprinting?

=> A chemical test that shows the genetic makeup of a person or other living things.

Steps of DNA Fingerprint (Southern Blotting techniques):

  1. DNA extract from cell.
  2. Cutting DNA by restrictions Endonuclease.
  3. Separate DNA fragments on Electrophoresis gel.
  4. Transfer DNA onto paper.
  5. Adding the radioactive probe.
  6. Setting up the X-ray film.

Application of DNA fingerprinting are:

  • In forensic science to identify potential crime suspects.
  • To establish paternity & family relationships.
  • To identify & protect the commercial varieties of crops & livestock.
