Answer:
The dispute between the Marathas, Mysore and the British were a result of the ‘divide and rule’ policy brought by the British East India Company.
- The Marathas had been accepted as a powerful race in the eighteenth Century whose significance reduced with their detriment in the 1761 Battle of Panipat. But they still owned the power to end the Britishers from ruling all over the nation which was a main obstacle for the British rulers.
- In the case of Mysore, the British needed the money of the Mysore Kingdom as well as the lands for growth over the Indian domain. This developed a sequence of wars called the Anglo-Mysore wars and Anglo-Maratha wars.
