Gymnosperms are the plants whose seeds are covered by a single cotyledon. Basically students get confused in gymno and angio. some think that gymno have no seeds which is truly no. gymno and angio both have seeds but difference is in the no. of cotyledons. gymno sperms are like all other plants but if you want to go in detail then text me i will give you this description. else what is written above is sufficient. in addition learn some examples of gymno to make the teacher think nice about you.

here the ans is.....
the term is made from two greek words:
gymno-means naked and sperma- means seed.the plants of this group bear naked seeds and are usually perennial, evergreen and woody.examples : pines and deodar ..
the types of gymnosperms are as follows :......
1.conifers..
these are plants that bear cones.the resultant seeds are usually dispersed by animals and birds that feed on the adible cones and pass out their seeds along with their excreta
types of conifers :Monoecious and dioecious
2.cycads ...
these are some what similar to conifers in anatomy in so much as the former happen to have woody trunk , cone like structures which often look similar to those of the latter.the cycads are made up of evergreen compound leaves, and shorter and horter than conifers...
3.ginkgo....
these plants are of oldest speciments of non flowering plants that reproduce through seeds.these usually grow in a pyramidal shape.the bark of the wood of this tree is very soft.it is mostly owing to the medicinal and the therapeutic value of ginko plant extracts.
types of ginkgo : ginkgo biloba and ginkgo gardneri...
4.gnetophytes....
these are also known as gnetales, they have a woody anatomy, similar to conifers and cycads, but differ from all 3 gymnosperms in so mich as they contain vessel element cell types, something that the other donot have.these special types of cells form a part of xylems.gnetophytes share this typical feature with angiosperms..
types of gnetophytes: gnetum ,ephedra and welwitschia...
