 Snake charmers are common in rural India although there are laws prohibiting. I came across a snake charmer recently on my visit to my native village. These are poor people who come from rural background.

 This profession runs in the family though many snake charmers do not want their sons to pursue this these days. People in rural India are amused by this art and that is what has kept this alive
