Mikali's mother had died when his baby brother was born. He took responsibility of him carried him on her back. Due to conflicts The refugees had fled from their mother land Armenia. They had settled down on the outskirts of Marseilles, France. They lived in camps made up of tents and sheds. The baby cried due to hunger and disturbed the surroundings i.e other refugees.

Dear diary,
The women around her are troublesome. They don't understand the grim situation. They are unaware on how to take care of their children. My baby brother screams out of hunger too. But he is my responsibility to take care of him.
