Hi...

Here is your answer..

I’m visiting Mumbai, India for yet another family reunion (this time my grandpa turned 80 which also coincided with my parent’s 30th wedding anniversary. Having left India 10 years ago, I decided to dig around old contacts to try and experience Mumbai like the locals. Below are references to some of the places that I visited that I didn’t find in lonely planet but found to be extremely enjoyable.

Out of the blue: located at Pali Hill in Bandra, this is a great place for a relaxed late evening dinner. Be sure to call ahead of time for reservations since the place was pretty packed on a Monday night. I highly recommend the divans that are outside since they’re low rise couches and offer a chilled out ambience.

• Mocha: This is an all time favorite coffee hangout enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. There are three to four branches all over the city; however I found the Mocha in Juhu (right across from the beach) to be one of the best locations. Almost all locations offer indoor and outdoor seating with low rise divans and sheeshaks (hookahs) in various flavors. The joint plays lounge music (Buddha bar, asia lounge etc) and coupled with some mint tea, it’s a great way to relax your toes after a hectic day of sight seeing and shopping.

• Gajali: I had heard that Trishna at Kala Ghoda was quite good for its seafood but I must admit that I found Gajali more flavorful and enjoyable. There are several branches all over the city (one in Phoenix mall, one in Andheri and one in Juhu). Don’t forget to try out the tandoori crab which in itself is a feast for the belly.

Thanks xD xD
