Credit card authentication is the process whereby the information contained in the credit card is transmitted to the issuer of the card through the payment processer. This is so that, the issuer can authenticate the card for further processing.

When the issuer authorises the credit card and approves it for processing payment, through the payment processor, it is called Credit Card Authorisation.
