Difference between distance and displacement with examples in ucm

Distance is the length covered by the body whereas displacement is the shortest diatance between the initial and final position of the body.

Distance is a scalar quantity 

It is always positive 

It is depend upon speed and time 



Displacement is vector quantity 

It can be zero , negative and positive 

it  is depend upon velocity and time
