Hello friend....
Nuclear fission- The word fission itself implies that division.... So, An isotope of uranium is bambarded with slow neutrons to produce the smaller particles which are again bambarded with slow neutrons and the process goes on continuing.
Nuclear fusion- It is the combining of the hydrogen atoms to form helium atom. This the reaction that happens in most of the celestial bodies like stars, sun etc....
