The main difference between Bakelite and Melamine are as follows:
1.Bakeite is thermosetting plastic , it cannot be molded again wheras Melamine, being a thermoplastic , can be molded any number of times and reshaped.2.BAKELITE OCCURS NATURALLY AND BAKELITE ISMAN MADE.3.Bakelite is a synthetic plasticand melamine is an organic compound.4. Bakelite is best insulator hence used in handles of cooking utensils, switch boards, radio, telephone casings etc. whereas Melamine is heat resistant, it isused in various industrial application.

Hey,
In Polystyrene monomers are 1,3butadiene&styrene
•Mechanism:co-polymerisation.
•uses-wrapping material, toys,insulating material.
•Polystyrene is thermoplastic.
•Polystyrene is man-made
In Bakelite monomers are phenol & Formaldehyde
•mechanism-condensation polymerisation
•uses-Combs,electrical discs.
•Bakelite is thermosetting polymer.
•Bakelite is both natural and man-made.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.
