I have immersed two electrodes in a Na2SO4 solution (1M, pH=10), one is a platinum sheet and the other one is a carbon rod, at room temperature.

I measure a voltage difference (+:Pt,-:C) (open circuit voltage) of -0.1 V.

Which redox couples fixe this voltage difference? In my solution, I have Na+, SO4 2-, H2O, N2, O2, H+, OH-, H2, Pt and C. For me, both C an Pt do not react, and so see couples which are in the solution.

When I close the circuit with a resistance my current is about 100 microAmpere, meaning there is an electron transfert but between who and who ? Thank you!
