Answer:

major difference between SN1 and SN2 are as follows :--

SN1 mechanism :-

➡️fist order kinetic

➡️ two step reaction

➡️ carbonation are intermediate

➡️ Both backside and front side attack of the Nucleophile occurs though the backside attack predominant

➡️ Generally racemization with some inversion i. e, partial racemization is observed.

➡️ Rearrangement are generally observed.

➡️ The order of reactivity follow the sequence : 3°> 2°>1° methyl halides.

SN2 mechanism

➡️ second order kinetics

➡️ one step rxn

➡️ carbonation are not intermediate. the rxn occurs through a transition State

➡️ Exclusive backside attack of the Nucleophile takes place.

➡️ complete inversion of configuration occurs.

➡️ Rearrangement are not observed.

➡️ The order of reactivity follow the sequence :

methyl >1°>2°>3 ° alkyl halides.

hope it help ✌️
