Hi friend,

There are two types of waves-:
=>Mechanical waves(elastic waves).
=>Non mechanical waves(electromagnetic waves).

Mechanical waves are the waves which need material/medium to travel like water waves and sound waves.

Non mechanical waves are the waves which do not require material/medium to travel like light waves.

DIFFERENCE-:

Mechanical waves are the waves which needs material and medium to travel while non mechanical waves are the waves which don't need material and medium to travel.

Mechanical waves have low speed while non mechanical waves have high speed.

Speed of sound in air is 330 m/s. Speed of light in air is 3× 10^8 m/s.

Mechanical waves have low frequency and high wave length. Non mechanical waves have high frequency and low wavelength.

Mechanical waves are transverse or longitudinal in nature while non mechanical waves are only transverse in nature.

Hope it helps................
