Hi friend,
There are two types of mechanical waves-:
=>Transverse waves
=>Longitudinal waves
DIFFERENCE-:
In transverse waves-:
-The particles of a medium vibrate at the right angels to the direction of motion of the waves.
-They travel in form of crust and trough.
-They can only travel on solids and liquids.
-There is no change in the density of medium.
-For example-> water waves.
In longitudinal waves-:
-The particles of the medium vibrate in the direction of motion of the waves.
-They travel in compression and rare faction.
-They can travel through solids, liquids and gases.
-There is a change in the density of medium.
-For example-> sound waves.
