Mercerisation of cotton is a fibre-swelling/structural relaxation treatment that may be carried out on yarns but more usually on fabrics. Hank or warp mercerisation of yarns often creates dyeability differences because of yarn tension variations that occur during mercerisation. A more circular fibre cross-section.
