Within an ecosystem there are three main types of consumers, primary, secondary and tertiary.

Primary consumers are those consumers who eat/feed on primary producers. For example: Primary producers can be plants and its primary consumers would be caterpillars which eat the leaves of plants.

Secondary consumers are those consumers who eat/feed on the primary consumers. For example Primary consumer being the caterpillar will end up getting eaten by Secondary consumer birds, sparrows, etc.

Finally, Tertiary consumers are those consumers who eat/feed on secondary consumers.For example, the birds who will become prey to weasels or bobcats, or other large predators like bigger birds, eagles.
