Atoms are small particles of an element that can or cannot come freely whereas Molecule is a group of atoms that comes together by a bond.

Explanation:

  • Atoms can or cannot exist freely while Molecules exist in a free state.
  • Atom holds a nucleus (proton and neutron) and electron whereas Molecule holds two or more different or identical elements that bonded together.
  • Atoms have a spherical shape while Molecules have a triangular, linear or angular shape.
  • Atoms are not visible to naked eyes and also not to magnifying microscope whereas Molecules are not visible to naked eyes but are visible through a magnifying microscope.
  • Atoms are highly reactive and subject to certain exceptions while Molecules are comparatively less reactive.
  • Atom has a nuclear bond whereas Molecule has a covalent bond.
