Difference between Luminous and Non-Luminous Objects

Objects that can emit light energy by themselves are known as luminous objects. Objects that cannot emit light energy by themselves are known as non-luminous objects. These objects can cause the sensation of light.

Objects like the sun that give out or emit light of their own are called luminous objects.Others examples: Electric bulb,torch etc. Non-luminous objects are objects which doesn't have their own light but visible only when light from luminous source reflects from them. For example: Moon, chair, a painting etc.

Objects that cannot emit light energy by themselves are known as non-luminous objects. These objects can cause the sensation of light. These objects do not cause the sensation of light. The luminous objects are visible as they emit light on their own. The non-luminous objects are visible because of luminous objects.
