Fibres are of two types natural or artificial substances.

Natural fibres:

  • Natural fibres are fibres that come from plants, animals, or minerals.
  • Two types of natural fibres are animal-based and plant-based.
  • Animal-based natural fibres are wool and silk.
  • Plant-based natural fibres are cotton, linen, and jute.

Synthetic fibres:

  • Synthetic fibres are fibres that form through chemical processes.
  • These are generally extracted during the chemical process using a spinneret which is a device that takes polymers to form fibres.
  • Synthetic fibres are artificial.
  • They are cheap, stain-resistant, and waterproof.
