Differentiate between photorespiration and photophosphorylation

When plants uses light energy from photosynthesis to convert ADP to ATP, the process is known as Photophosphorylation.

photorespiration, which, rather than fixing carbon, actually leads to the loss of already-fixed carbon as CO2. Photorespiration wastes energy and decreases sugar synthesis. So it is a respiratory process in many higher plants by which they take up oxygen in the light and give out some carbon dioxide, contrary to the general pattern of photosynthesis

Differentiate between photorespiration and photophosphorylation:

Photophosphorylation

  • Photophosphorylation is a useful method as it includes the development of ATP.
  • Photophosphorylation is of 2 types- cyclic and non-cyclic.
  • When a plant takes light energy from photosynthesis to transform ADP, the method is called as Photophosphorylation.

photorespiration

  • Photorespiration is a garbage process as it does not yield ATP.
  • Photorespiration takes energy. It is only cyclic.
  • Photorespiration, which, rather than deposing carbon, really headliners to the lack of already-fixed carbon as CO_{2}.
  • Photorespiration wastes energy and lowers sugar synthesis.
