The strength of an acid and a base depends upon the number of H+ ions and OH- ionsin itrespectively. For example, if we take one molar of HCl and Acetic acid, they will produce different number of H+ ions. A strong acid is one which produces more number of H+ ions, while a weak acid is one which produces less number of H+ ions. Similarly, a strong base is one which produces more number of OH- ions, while a weakbase is one which produces less number of OH- ions.
Strong Acids -HCl (hydrochloric acid),HNO3 (nitric acid)
Weak Acids -CH3COOH (acetic acid),HCOOH (formic acid).
