1) Surface water is present on the surface of the earth surface while ground water is present inside the surface of earth crust.
2) Ground water is extracted from ground by making tube well on it while surface water is used by making furrows from rivers to the areas where it is needed.
Examples of surface water are lakes, rivers and streams etc.
