Differentiate gross cropped area from net sown area

In case if you meant the difference between Gross Cropped Area and Net Sown Area, here you go:

Gross Cropped Area (GCA) is the total area sown once as well as more than once in a particular year. When the crop is sown on a piece of land for twice, the area is counted twice in GCA.

On the other hand, Net Sown Area is the area sown with crops but is counted only once.

Knowledge about GCA and NSA helps in calculating cropping intensity which is GCA/NSA*100.

India's GCA is 195 million hectares and NSA is 141 million hectares and cropping intensity thus is approximately 138%.
