Differences between myopia and hypermetropia are as follows :

MYOPIA :
•A person suffering from this defect of vision CAN SEE NEARBY OBJECTS CLEARLY but CANNOT SEE DISTANT OBJECT CLEARLY.
•This is caused by FLATTENING OF THE EYEBALL and the lens becoming thick and rigid.
•In a myopic eyes image of the distant object is formed IN FRONT OF THE RETINA and not on the retina.
•This defect of vision can be corrected by using CONCAVE LENS of appropriate focal length.
• Myopia is also known as SHORT SIGHTEDNESS.

HYPERMETROPIA :
•A person suffering from this defect of vision CAN SEE DISTANT OBJECTS CLEARLY but CANNOT SEE NEARBY OBJECTS CLEARLY.
•This is caused by the ELONGATION OF THE EYEBALL and the lens becoming flat and rigid.
• In a hypermetropic eye the image of nearby object is formed BEHIND THE RETINA and not on the retina.
• This defect of vision can be corrected by using CONVEX LENS of appropriate focal length.
• Hypermetropia is also known as LONG SIGHTEDNESS.
