roasting is a process which take place in absence of oxygen it is used for taking out sulphide Ore and calcination is a process which take place in percent of Oxygen and taking out of carbonate these processes help in extraction of pure metal

The sulphide ores are converted into oxides by heating strongly in presence of excess air is called roasting.

The carbonate ores are converted into oxides by heating strongly in presence of limited air is called calcination.
