Discuss cell surface transport under constituents
Answers
The cell membrane encompasses a number of biological molecules which include lipids and proteins. The exact composition is not set but there si occassional cahnge for fluidity and environmental changes especially the flactuations that take place during cell development. There are various methods of transport in the cell which include:
1.Osmosis-Diffusion of water across a semipermeable membrane
2.Diffusion-Water molecules move from a high concentration to a lower concentration.
3.Active transport- In this case, the cell is required to use energy in form of ATP.
4.Vesicle -Mediated transport- This is where vacuoles or vesicles fuse with the cell mebrane to let out transport chemicals that allow movement of materials into the cell.
Cell surface or membrane is made of phospholipid bilayer and protein. this layer act as a barrier between outer environment also help in communication and transportation of materials and also protect the cell. different way of transportation through cell surface are;
- diffusion
- facilitated transport
- active and co-transport
- voltage gated ion channels
