Social conflict theory is a Marxist based theory. It mainly argues that the social group in a society interact on the basis of conflict rather than consensus.

Depending on the strength the groups after conflict receive such results also.

Conflicts are an engine to bring about a change in the society as conflicts bring upon contradictions which upon resolution brings about social peace and prosperity.
