Easter 1916 is a political poem written by W.B.Yeats .The poem speaks about the event of the political uprising in Ireland on easter Sunday ,24 April 1916.Yeats describes how the sixteen nationalists fought for the freedom of Ireland.The Irish nationalists expecting help from the Germans who were at times at war with British.They wanted to proclaim Ireland as a republic ,free from the bondage of the British crown.The British tried hard to suppress the rebellion in a brutal manner but failed. Seven nationalists signed the proclaimation they were Pearse,Connolly,Mac Donagh, Macbride etc.Yeats was in Dublin when the rebellion took place and he was deeply moved by heroism .
