discuss the contribution of reservation to the emergence of new social groups
Answers
The constitution of India has provided its citizen with some important fundamental rights (right to free-dom, right against exploitation etc.) so that the right of women, children, minorities and weaker section of society do not get collapsed. Moreover, in order to protect these sections from exploitation in the workplace or educational institutes, the Constitution of India has declared the reservation for them. As a result of this reservation policy, the weaker section of the society, women, children and minority can get better access to the facilities provided by the government.
However, this situation has created a new group holding reservation rights. Though this policy of res-ervation was introduced to protect the weaker section or women and children from exploitation or to uplift their social status, it has created a new social group by which families (who entertain all the re-sources as a citizen of India) are claiming themselves to be the "Reserved Category".
