There are some reasons behind the end of Maratha rule. Before the final fall, Marathas had efficient leaders like Nana Fadna-vis, Ahalya Bai and some others.
Maratha Confederacy was left weak at the time of the first Anglo-Maratha war by the treaty of Salbai. The other reasons like selfishness, jealousy, conflict etc. This empire was ended at 1818 with the defeat of Peshwa Bajirao 2.
