In most of the cases the family is assumed to be complete when there is both son and daughter. The adage talks by the older people like you will go to heaven if you have a male child has some kind of pressurizing effects on individual.
An individual play two roles- if someone has 2 daughters they say its okay to have to daughters… they are no less than boys nowadays
but the same person changes when it comes to them.
Even after all these things we can say the conditions have improved - child marriage, domestic violence . Government has played important roles by strictly implementing the yojanas like-
Beti bachao beti padhao - 58% districts have improved
Sukanya Smridhi yojana - interest rate of 8.1% + tax benefits to be given to account opened in the name of daughter
Pradhan mantri Matru Vandana Yojana - maternity benefit programme.
These schemes have shown a fruitful results.
Despite of all these things one thing that has not changed so far is a family want for sons. Many daughters are born in want of a son and they are termed as” unwanted daughters”.
The thing which has to be changed first is the social mindset of the society. Man exercise the controls in all aspects. some practices are as follows -
For ideal women - you are an ideal woman if you listen to your husband , you are an ideal daughter if you listen to your father .
Also girls are assumed as “paraya dhan” . All the investment done on her will be for other family.
These are some examples of social mindset of people that needs to be changed first.
Hope it helps you.......!☺️

the status of the women begins to decline during the time of Smritis. In this period, women lost their right for studying the Vedas. Domestic lives or marriage becomes mandatory for women. After the significant ups and downs, in the British era, the status of the Indian women starts elevating for sake of great social reformers – Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Annie Besant to name a few.
