INFRASONIC SOUNDS vs ULTRASONIC SOUNDS:
Infrasonic Sounds :
- These are the longitudinal pressure waves having a frequency less than 20 Hz.
- Since they are below 20 Hz , they cannot be heard by human ear.
- They are mainly used by GEOLOGISTS in order to monitor earth quakes, detect petroleum formation and rock charting.
Ultrasonic Sounds:
- These are the longitudinal pressure waves having a frequency more than 20,000 Hz.
- Since they have such a high frequency, they also cannot be heard by the human ear.
- They are used extensively in USG , which helps in imaging various organs and their pathologies. It is also used to check the condition of foetus in pregnant mother.
