india has two main important groups of islands-the Lakshadweep islands and the Andaman and Nicobar islands. While the Lakshadweep islands are located in the Arabian Sea, the Andaman and Nicobar islands lie in the Bay of Bengal. The Lakshadweep group of islands are composed of small coral islands. The Andaman and Nicobar islands are an elevated portion of submarine mountains.
