Meridians are lines that run from the North Pole to the South Pole.Meridians are not parallel. They converge or come together at the Poles. They number from the PrimeMeridian (line 0) to 180W and from the Prime Meridian to 180E.

Parallels run from east to west and never intersect with each other whereas meridians run from north to south and intersect at the north and south poles. This is the difference between parallels and meridians.
