Answer: The method except fehlings solution and tollens test​ to distinguish between propanal and propanol. :-

Iodoform Test : If methanal is reacted with NaOH + I₂ then it shows yellow ppt. which is ethan-iodide which proves that the reactant has aldehyde.

If it doesn't show yellow ppt. then it can be methanol.

D.N.P Test :- If the aldehyde is presnet then it will give yellowish color but if alcohol is present then 2,4-D.N.P won't give yellowish color.
