x+y=24

now put value of x

$\frac{4}{2} y + y = 24 \\ = > \frac{4y + 2y}{2} = 24 \\ = > \frac{6y}{2} = 24 \\ > 6y = 48 \\ \\ = > y = 8$

now

$\frac{x}{8} = \frac{4}{2} \\ = > x = \frac{32}{2} \\ x = 16$

Hence x/y=16/8
