Let the 2 parts be x & y such that,
x + y = 300 ...(i)
or x = 300 - y ...(ii)
according 2 question,
1/2 x + 48 = y
(x + 96)/2 = y
x + 96 = 2y
x - 2y = -96
Using ...(ii), we have
300 - y - 2y = -96
300 - 3y = -96
396 = 3y
y = 132
substotuting above result in ...(i), we have
x + 132 = 300
x = 300 - 132
x = 168
therefore, x = 168 ; y = 132 is the answer

Answer:
126 and 174
Explanation:
Let the one part be 1/2 x
Let the other part be 1/2 x - 48
A/Q
1/2x +1/2x - 48 = 300
2/2x - 48 = 300
2/2x = 300 + 48
2/2x = 348
X = 348
Therefore, the one part = 174 and the other part = 126
