Divide Rs 510 among three parts so that first one is 2/3 of the second and the ratio of second and third part is 6:7
Answers
Examplular Answer:-
The sum of three numbers is 98. The ratio of the first to the second is 2/ 3, and the ratio of the second to the third is 5/ 8. The second number is what?
Let the three unknown numbers be X, Y, Z.
Now, X : Y
Is 2:3
Y:Z
Is 5:8
Now, X : Y : Z
H. . 2 : 3
H . H . 5 : 8
P.S. please ignore the ‘H’s and dots; they were to help me space out the ratios properly.
To find the value of Z in the ratio of Y : Z, crossmultiply.
3 x 8= 24
24/5= 4.8
The new ratio is now:
X : Y : Z
2 : 3 : 4.8
Find the total of the three ratios
2 + 3 + 4.8 = 9.8
Now, to find any of the unknown numbers, take it’s value (say X), divide it by the total of the ratios (9.8), then multiply it by 98.
Hence, the second number, Y is:
3/9.8 X 98 = 30
P.S. we can test our answer:
X = 2/9.8 X 98
= 20
Z= 4.8/9.8 X 98
= 48.
Now, the sum of the three numbers should be 98.
X + Y + Z = 98.
20+30+48= 98.
