Sand and water together form a heterogenous mixt.

That is they can easily be separated using physical separation techniques.

In case of sand and water mixt. we use Filtration method due to the difference in their physical state i.e. water being liquid and sand being solid in nature.

We use a filter which can be a cloth or filter paper etc. water being liquid gets filtered as filtrate leaving behind sand as impurity.
