Solution :-

Put x in the ratio

• 2x
• 3x

Now

⇒ 2x + 3x = 185

⇒ 5x = 185

⇒ x = 185/5

⇒ x = 37

Put the value of x in the ratio

• 2x = 2 × 37 = 74
• 3x = 3 × 37 = 111

Hence, the two parts in which 185 divided into 2 : 3 are 74 and 111 respectively.
