Gypsum is neither a hygroscopic salt nor a deliquescent salt.

- Gypsum is hydrated calcium sulphate. The formula of gypsum is CaSO₄.2H₂O

- It is not a hygroscopic salt as it cannot absorb more water. In fact it releases its water of crystallisation to form CaSO₄ . 1/2H₂O

- Gypsum is also not a deliquescent salt as it does not form its solution by absorbing water from the surroundings.
