Lichens are a kind of organisms produced by the mutualistic relationship between a fungus and a photosynthetic organism which is known as algae or also known as cyanobacterium in scientific language.
The algae provides carbohydrates through the process of photosynthesis while fungus provides with moisture.
So lichens don't provide home for algae.
They can live under different climatic condition and locations.
