Following is the list of qualities that a man should possess according to the poem If:

• A person should be calm in difficult situations.
• They should believe in themselves and understand that maintaining one's integrity is important.
• A person should always be truthful to themselves as well as to others.
• There should be no feeling of hatred towards anybody and a man should not be arrogant or stubborn.
• A person should be ambitious and learn to dream big.
• A person also has the emotional stability to go through any kind of situation.

The ones that seem unnecessary or impossible among the given traits are:

• A person can never always be emotionally stable to bear any situation. Human beings can become emotionally vulnerable at times and that should be considered alright.
• A man cannot always be indifferent to their failure and success.
• Similarly, it is impossible for a person to always be truthful to everybody.
• A man cannot always be expected remain calm in a difficult situation.
