Answer:

If I chose to stay up late, I will be waking up late. This just messes up my routine for the following day. The lack of sleep shows on my face and affects me mentally as well. I rush to work the following day with a very messy mind.

Choices.

They make or break everything, 90% of the time. The other 10% — fate — has a small part to play in my destiny.

Some things in this life just HAVE to take place. Despite carefully planning your day to a T, something (either fortunate or unfortunate) happens.

I believe Fate has a voice and its name is Intuition. It tells you when something is about to happen, something that is off tangent to your initial plan, schedule, thought, idea or action.

But what is Fate? Something so intangible. Something that is nearly unfathomable. It baffles me that I don’t have a concrete idea of what exactly it is. I just know it’s there and it does have a certain percentage of control (a 10% in my opinion) on our lives.

Hey!!

Here is your answer -

Given the constraints placed on me by my individual circumstances, by other people’s actions, and by the laws and rules of the wider society in which I live, I have no reason to suspect that I am in anything other than total control of my destiny.

I have no belief whatsoever in fate, karma, or any other version of determinism. As I said, given certain constraints - and there can be a number of them, including those already mentioned and such things as our intelligence, drive, determination etc - we have a complete freedom of action as to what particular path we might follow in life, at any particular point in time.

As far as I can see, the concepts of fate or karma are mainly used by those who (maybe subconsciously) try to distance themselves from any failures in life, choosing to blame ‘fate’, rather than their own actions, or inactions.

Certainly many people have ambitions beyond their capabilities, and their imagined destiny remains unfulfilled, but there’s nothing predetermined there. ‘Fate’ doesn’t lend a hand in deciding which path you might set off along in life, nor does it play a part in any decisions you might make at every junction along that path.

My destiny is controlled purely by my personal circumstances, what abilities I possess, and the decisions I make in life.
